Cap and trade is just another way to expand a commodities market, that will no doubt be unregulated until it is too late. They tried this in Florida--go ahead and develop huge communities in the water table, but you have to buy credits from the folks that do not develop obstructions, like imperviable concrete and roof tops in the water table. Or you could buy up those credits from the local ranch, park, etc. and sell them on the market to the developers. Correct me if I am wrong, but this means our major corporations can spew pollution all they want, as long as they hold enough "credits" purchased from small companies that have no or minimal pollution or environmental impact. When you put Monsanto or other major corporations into the mix, they will be able to afford to keep polluting as long as they can afford credits. Guess what, everything a consumer pays for anything will be more expensive, after all, the end consumer will be stuck with every bill.
