What Does The Republican Party Stand For

The Republican Party should stand for a strong defense, small government, low taxes, fiscal responsibility, adherence to the Constitution, defense of American sovereignty, law and order, colorblindness, and traditional American values including, but not limited to respect for human life, personal responsibility, and love of country.

Granted, there will be some disagreement in certain areas, complaints that it's not specific enough, and of course, the GOP falls short of all the ideals presented above at times, but if the average Republican pol were 90% successful in sticking to the agenda I just laid out, the country and the Party would be much better off.

Posting this doesn't mean I am a Republican. Yes I used to be, but many years ago, I became disenchanted with big politics and politicians and switched over to "Independent".

I would like to see the Republican party become what is described above, but I will probably stay independent even if they do. All I know is that something has to change and not the Obama type of change, how dissapointing! I hope a new party is developed. America so needs it!

I gave up my party membership in 2003, after watching the GWB gang act more like Democrats. I was disgusted by the "regime change" they pulled in Iraq, putting American lives at risk. With GWB's continual rhetoric about bringing democracy to the world, I was worried if we would attack Red China. That administration managed to get the entire world hating us above and way beyond how they hated us before. I usually get teary-eyed when they show Marine One taking the former prez on his last flight home, but this time I cheered.
Not that I especially appreciate or trust Obama, I do like that he is trying to calm down the whole situation around the world and assure them that if they don't agree with us, we won't attack them.
