Senate Bill S. 32 Short Title: Employers Must Use Federal E-Verify Program

The following bill languishes in committee in spite of the fact that one of the bills sponsors (Sen. Tony Rand) is vice-chair of the Commerce Committee. Ron Woodard of NC Listen has been quoted as saying, "Since the North Carolina unemployment rate is nearly 11%, one would think our state government would want to assist in making sure only legal residents get new jobs, some of which are being created with your tax dollars." Very good point Mr. Woodard!

Call Senator Rand at 919-733-9892 and ask him why he isn't actively working to get a bill he sponsored through his own committee!

AN ACT TO REQUIRE THAT EMPLOYERS IN THIS STATE USE THE FEDERAL E-VERIFY PROGRAM OR A SIMILAR VERIFICATION OF WORK AUTHORIZATION PROGRAM; AND TO APPROPRIATE FUNDS TO ESTABLISH AND SUPPORT A POSITION TO ASSIST IN THE IMPLEMENTATION ANDEXECUTION OF THIS ACT.
